Esta agência de viagens - Vayama - acha que Timor Leste seja na Indonésia! Tenho correspondido com a companhia por quase um anho, antes e depois na minha viagem para Timor Leste, mas ainda não fez nada para corregir a informação.

Hi there,

I was very pleased to see that it was possible to book direct flights between Singapore and Dili on your website. However, I was very diappointed that Vayama listed it as being in Indonesia, and not in East Timor (also know as Timor Leste) which has been an independent state since 2002.

This seems to be a problem common to a lot of travel portals, which is incomprehensible, given that Montenegro has only been independent since 2006, although nobody would suggested that Podgorica Airport (TGD) be listed as being 'Montenegro, Yugoslavia'.

While it may seem a small detail to some people, it is a matter of courtesy to the people who live in those countries.

As they say in East Timor 'obrigadu barak' - thank you very much!

Dear Ken,

After further review in hopes of verifying how these cities are listed on the Vayama site, I have found that Dili and Podgorica are listed as follows:

Dili, East Timor, Indonesia, Dili Arpt. (DIL) Podgorica, Montenegro, Podgorica Arpt. (TGD)

Please, if possible, clarify what problems or disappointments you have with the listings so that it may be forwarded to our site management department for review.

Thank you for your further reply.

I thought that I had made myself clear in my original message, but to clarify matters, I am asking that ‘Dili, East Timor, Indonesia, Dili Arpt. (DIL)’ be changed to ‘Dili, East Timor, Nicolau Lobato Arpt. (DIL)’ because East Timor is not in Indonesia, it is an independent state. The airport was renamed after an independence leader who died during Indonesian rule.

My point about the listing for Podgorica Airport in Montenegro was that Montenegro has been an independent state for less time than East Timor. I therefore have no issue with the listing on your site, as the correct information has been entered.

Further to our correspondence below, I am very disappointed that you colleagues have yet to correct the information on their database, which still lists Dili Airport as being in Indonesia, instead of East Timor. I have recently been in East Timor, which I can confirm is a separate country from Indonesia – I even had to apply for a visa at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili in order to re-enter Indonesia.

I would be grateful, therefore, if your colleagues could correct this information as soon as possible

Dear Ken -

Thank you for your updated response. Given the way our online Mapping system works, we're needing to await the rollout of the next version of the interactive Mapping and associated Country/City Airport codes to implement the change you've referenced. Since the mapping application is a "third party" application, we don't have the luxury of being able to just jump in and make corrections.

That said, it IS being corrected and will be reflected within the new release scheduled for the beginning of the 3rd quarter of this year.

I have checked your website, and Dili is STILL listed as being in 'East Timor, Indonesia' when it should be in 'East Timor' or 'Timor Leste'. We are now in the fourth quarter of the year. When is it going to be corrected?
